HOLD THE PRESSES! Vancouver has a condom shortage!
It is common knowledge that the Olympic atmosphere is one of constant celebration. Athletes from across the world come together to compete, represent their countries, and mingle in good will. During the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, the mingling has apparently been going really really well.
Health officials in Vancouver have already provided 100,000 free condoms to the roughly 7,000 athletes and officials at the Games. This equates to around 14 condoms per person. As of Wednesday, those supplies started running dangerously low.
“When we heard about the condom shortage in Vancouver, we felt it important to respond immediately,” said Kerry Whiteside, CANFAR’s Executive Director.
The organization shipped 8,500 condoms to Olympic Village, and they are expected to arrive on Thursday. Free condoms first started to be distributed at the Olympics in Barcelona at the 1992 Games. Since this practice began, this is the first Olympic condom shortage to ever occur. 2010 can now boast having the most horny athletes in history.
